Privacy policy

Draft — describes what the app does today. Pending a full legal review before Track My Circle is available to the public.

Track My Circle exists to let the people in your circle — family, usually — see each other's location and stay safe. This page explains, plainly, what information the app collects, why, and how long it's kept.

What we collect

Account details. Your email address and any name or photo you choose to add.

Location. While location sharing is turned on for a circle, we collect your device's GPS position so the other members of that circle can see it. If you turn sharing off, we stop collecting it.

Driving data. If driving reports are enabled, we use your phone's motion sensors (not a separate GPS tracker) to detect things like hard braking, hard acceleration, and sharp turns during a trip, so your circle can see a driving report.

Safe Zones. The places you mark (like home or school) so the app can tell your circle when someone arrives or leaves.

Circle & invite data. Who's in your circle, and the email address of anyone you invite to join one.

Device push token. A device identifier used only to deliver notifications (alerts, invites) to your phone through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service.

How long we keep it

Location history is kept for a limited window (7 days by default) and then automatically deleted — it isn't kept forever. Longer retention may be offered on some plans in the future; this page will be updated if that changes.

If you delete your account, it enters a 30-day grace period (in case it was a mistake) and is then permanently deleted, including your location history and circle memberships. Logging back in during those 30 days cancels the deletion.

If you leave a circle, your past location data in that circle isn't deleted immediately — the other members can still see history from while you were a member. Rejoining later restores your visibility going forward.

Who can see it

Your location, Safe Zone activity, and driving reports are only ever visible to the other members of the same circle — never sold, and never shared with advertisers.

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the app — for example, Google Firebase to deliver push notifications, and our own servers to store your data and serve map tiles. These providers process data on our behalf; they don't get to use it for their own purposes.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit between your phone and our servers. Access to your circle's data is limited to that circle's members and the account holder who set it up.

Family circles and minors

Track My Circle is often used by families to keep track of children. If you add a minor to your circle, you're responsible for having the right to do so (as a parent or guardian) and for explaining to them what the app shares and with whom.

Your choices

You can turn location sharing off at any time, leave a circle, or delete your account entirely from the app's settings.
